Greece Culture: Music and Dance Macedonia

This is the largest region in Greece, stretching all the way from its western border with Albania to its eastern border with the Greek part of Thrace.

The old region of Macedonia was divided in the early 20th century between Greece, Yugoslavia, and Bulgaria, so that the present Greek portion of Macedonia is bordered on the north by FYROM and Bulgaria, by Albania on the west, Ipiros and Thessaly to the south, and the north Aegean Sea and Greek Thrace in the east.

As would be expected in such a vast region which historically included many peoples, there is a large diversity of music and dance common to many other areas of mainland Greece. Costumes, be design vary with each village or area.
