Harry's Greece Travel Itinerary ~ The Delos Discoverer

What You Get:

The Delos Discoverer: Athens with tour, Mykonos, Delos, Santorini 8 days & 7 nights

Day 1 - Arrival transfer Athens Airport to your chosen level of central hotel. Meet and assist .Overnight.

Day 2 - Enjoy a tour of Athens, combining many of the citys principal modern and classical sights. This tour includes an overview of the modern city and striking contrasts to the remains of its glorious past.

Drive by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Parliament House on Constitution Square, the Panathenian Stadium (site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896).

See vistas of the Presidential Palace (ex Royal Palace), government buildings and elegant homes. Drive along Panepistimiou Avenue and view the Catholic Cathedral, the Academy, University, National Library and Omonia Square.

In contrast, we visit the Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus and the crowning beauty and glory that was Athens, the Acropolis with its many monuments atop its rocky base, including the awe inspiring Parthenon, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike and the Erechtheion with its Porch of Maidens. We also visit the Acropolis Museum.

Return at noon and the rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at your hotel.

Day 3 - Take the mornight hydrofoil from Piraeus to Mykonos. Arrive to Mykonos and transfer to your hotel. Meet and assist. Overnight.

Day 4 - After breakfast take the Delos tour from the Mykonos Old port. Return at noon and overnight.

Day 5 - Take the hydrofoil from Mykonos port to Santorini. Arrival Transfer to Santorini to your hotel. Meet and assist. Overnight.

Day 6 - Explore this magnificent island and enjoy the view and the most famous sunrise of the world. Overnight.

Day 7 - After breakfast take the morning hydrofoil from the port to Piraeus. Take the train or a taxi or request us a transfer to get to your hotel. Overnight.

Day 8 - After breakfast take the metro to the airport or request from us a departure transfer.

1) we did our homework. We read a lot in guidebooks, both printed and web-based, and planned exactly where we wanted to go in the time we had. It wasn't easy, but with the huge amount of information available, especially the high-content stuff available on Harry's site, we mapped out a great itinerary that was that much more satisfying because it was our planning, and not some tour group's.

2) the great service we got from Harry's Travel Partners. We corresponded via e-mail for a couple of months as we made many changes in what we wanted to do, and responded very quickly every time, until we finalized all the cities and transfers we needed.

When we arrived at our first hotel in Greece, a packet was waiting for us with vouchers for every hotel, in-country flight, overnight tour (to Meteora, we didn't feel like driving ourselves), rental car (for the Peloponnese, one of many fantastic experiences), and ferry ride, plus a set of brochures and maps that were very helpful. Every voucher worked flawlessly.

Finally, when we already thought this was a supremely memorable vacation, we ended up in Santorini, which had booked for us, in one of the most fabulous vacation spots we have ever been in.
